Why We Built This Site
A warrant question can touch more than one office. The court keeps its docket and orders; the Sheriff serves process and may hold execution records; a regional jail answers custody questions after booking. In Nelson County, the Circuit, General District, and JDR clerks share the courthouse complex in Lovingston but maintain different case records. No official public Sheriff warrant roster was located. We bring the official routes together so a reader can begin with the court named on a paper, search where the case system applies, and call the right clerk when an online result is incomplete.
Nelson’s structure also differs from a city-centered county. It has no incorporated city or town, no local municipal court, and no town marshal. A citation from another locality belongs to that locality’s court.

What We Cannot Do
This privately maintained reference has no connection to a Virginia court, Sheriff’s Office, or state agency. It has clear limits:
- It cannot run an official warrant check or decide whether any process is active.
- It cannot recall, quash, remove, or clear a court order.
- It cannot take a bond payment, schedule a surrender, or set a hearing.
- It cannot give legal advice or predict what a judge will decide.
- It cannot guarantee that every phone number, hour, or court procedure remains current.
Only the issuing court can confirm the docket and any recall order. The Sheriff can answer service-side questions about its own records. For a custody question after booking, contact Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
Search Partners
Some content pages contain general public-record search boxes supplied by outside providers. Those services set their own prices, handle their own submissions, and are not official Virginia warrant checks. Their results may not match a court file or reflect a later order. Do not use an outside search result to decide that a warrant exists or has been cleared. Confirm the information with the Nelson court or Sheriff that maintains the record.
